Barnet Judo

Barnet Judo has been teaching and coaching Judo for many years in Barnet, North London, catering for those who want to participate in judo as recreational or as an elite sport.

My son has been a member at Barnet Judo for many years and he thoroughly enjoyed their friendly and enthusiastics approach to judo, so I volunteered to take over and redevelope their website for free in gatitude. It was at Barnet Judo that I met Caroline Lovett and subsequently designed Lovett Pilates for her.

The word Judo translates as the “gentle” or “supple way”. Judo at Barnet Judo is taught traditionally under the guidance of the British Judo Council. Judo was formulated by Jigaro Kano in Japan over 100 years ago and we at Barnet Judo believe that the traditions, history and ideals of the original founder are as important today as they were when Judo was first conceived. A kind of sparring is practised in judo, known as randori, meaning "free practice". In randori, two adversaries may attack each other with any judo throw or grappling technique. Simon Mazullo is the BJC Technical Officer for the North London area.
